One area of woodworking that we specialize in is fine rustic furniture made from reclaimed lumber. We make many of these pieces from old-growth Douglas Fir salvaged from timbers originally cut in the Cascades in the early 1900s. Lumber reclaimed from these old timbers is very dense and dimensionally stable. The aged surface patina has been preserved in many cases to add character and visual appeal to the piece. Using reclaimed lumber provides the additional advantage of conserving living trees and using a resource that would otherwise be wasted. Our rustic stick chairs are the best we've seen anywhere. The wood is hand selected from small diameter standing dead timber, and all joints are hand-carved mortise and tenons.

Winged side table. (This table utilizes a hinge design that is rarely seen even in fine hand-made furniture. The main top and the two side-wings are fitted together as in a finger joint. Each finger is carefully drilled to recieve a 1/8 inch stainless steel rod which extends across the width of the top and acts as the hinge pivot for the wings.) |
