African Art Deco is the name we give to an original style of home furnishings made only in our shop. This unique hybrid style combines the influence of native African art, with the futuristic "Jetsonian" look of 1960s America. Pieces done in this style are usually made from Zebrawood (an african tropical hardwood) and reclaimed douglas fir lumber selected for its weathered surface patina. Also characteristic of this style are the use of analine wood dyes in brilliant traditional african colors, and the use of hand-made embossed animal skin patterns and other motifs from "the dark continent". Very organic and colorful!
